Piteå Summer Games – So much more than football
Since 1990, Piteå Summer Games has not only been a meeting place for young football players from all over the world, but also a powerful driving force for our local community. Over the years, the tournament has generated more than 63 million SEK for the local clubs in Piteå. This means valuable support, which in turn strengthens the opportunities for children and young people to be active.
But Piteå Summer Games is bigger than that – the tournament creates a sense of community and togetherness that touches the entire region. Every year, Piteå is filled with players, parents, coaches, and visitors, giving our local businesses a welcome boost of over 100 million SEK. Hotels, restaurants, shops, and local companies all benefit from this positive wave the event brings, helping to strengthen our region in the long term.
Together, we are building something special. A meeting place that unites people across borders and backgrounds, creates new friendships, and memories for life. Thanks to the strong commitment from businesses, volunteers, clubs, and residents, we make the tournament every year bigger than the game itself.
THANK YOU for making Piteå a place where unique hospitality meets thousands of young people during one of the world's largest tournaments.
We would like to award a symbolic medal to all of you who shape Piteå into the fantastic community it is.
So, the next time you need to show a visitor from Mongolia where the football field is, stand in the kiosk and sell ice cream to three girls from Portugal, work a shift before cheering on your child’s team against Finnish opponents, wave to the Mexican team in the parade with their sombreros, or even when you are stuck in traffic in Piteå for the first time this year – that’s when you should put on your symbolic medal and be proud to be from Piteå!
